For Professionals Who Wear Hearing Aids...

For those professionals who wear completely in -the-canal or canal hearing instruments and also need to use a stethoscope, there are two options that have met with success for many:

Steth-O-Mates--Silicone ear tips that replace the hard plastic tips found on most stethoscopes and "cup" over the hearing aid.

Custom earmolds--Choose from either a "bridge type" that remains in place over the hearing instrument and has a bowl-shaped indentation to accept the stethoscope tip or a "ball and socket" type that remains on the stethoscope. This second type requires we send one of the stethoscope tips with the impression so a screw ball can be created that snaps into the earmold.

For Professionals Who Depend on Their Stethoscopes...

Typically the generic earpieces and heavy metal clamps that come with stock stethoscopes can be uncomfortable, heavy and offer poor sound transmission. Custom-molded earmolds provide comfort, fit and increased sound quality. Retrofitting stethoscopes, either binaural or monaural, takes only a few minutes once the custom molds have been fabricated.

For professionals in the Dental Industry...

These individuals face serious damage to their hearing as a result of exposure to high-speed drills. Several studies conducted among dentists confirmed high-frequency hearing loss ranging form moderate to severe, and high risk of tinnitus (ringing in the ears).

The ER-15 earmold, originally developed for musicians exposed to damaging sounds, attenuates the potentially damaging 80-90 dB noise levels generated by dental equipment to a more comfortable 65-70 dB. The filter protects against damaging noise levels, yet still allows the wearer to hear normal conversation and avoid the plugged-up feeling that generic over the counter earplugs can cause.
